How to Convert To Basic And Dynamic Disks In Windows XP

You already know about that XP professional have two type of disk storage first one is basic and second one is  Dynamic. The basic is supported logical, extended and primary partitions. and dynamic is used to create volume that used for many multiple disks and it can make volume like striped and spanned volume. 
*BASIC NOTES. 

• *If you want to convert the basic disk to dynamic you should have 1 megabyte of free space in master boot record. This space is reversed in Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows 2000 when you partitioned or volume is created.
• *Your logical or existing partitions drives is converted in dynamic disk*
• You have to save all your data in another device if you want to change all dynamic volume into basic volume because you can't change your dynamic volume back to partitions.
• In Professional and Windows 2000 and Windows XP there is limited access to dynamic after convert to dynamic. 
• You should not covert to a dynamic disk if you have more than one installations of XP Professional or Windows 2000 because it will remove all your partitions. 
• If you have a Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or some portable computer then dynamic disk is supported
• You have to delete all the existing volume if you want to change dynamic disk back to basic disk. You have to save all your data in another device. 

To convert a basic disk to a dynamic disk:

• If you want to change to dynamic to basic you have to be  a administrator member and administrator group 
• *You have to click on start and click on Control panel 
• *You have to click on performance and then click on administrative and then Double on computer management *
• you have to double click on the left pane on the disk management.

NOTE:You will see grey area on the disk tittle on the left side  you have to right on  there
for eg. Right -click disk 0....*

• You have to click on the check box in which you want to convert it and after you have to click on OK
• If you want to see the volume list in the disk then you have to click on detail and then click on convert and then click yes if you want to convert and then click on OK

To change a dynamic disk back to a basic disk:

• *If you are changing the dynamic to a basic disk then you have to follows these rules ***
• *If you are changing the dynamic disk to basic disk then you have to be administrator or member of administrator group *
• *You have to click on start and then click on control panel *
• And then you have to click on performance and maintenance and then click  on administrative tools and then double click on management and then click on the disk management on the left pane **
• *You  have to click on the dynamic to convert it on basic disk and then click delete volume *
• *To delete volume you have to click on the yes option and then you have to repeat 4 and 5 for each volume ***
• *You have to click on the convert to basic disk after delete all the volume on the dynamic *
